Doretta Petlowany Making a Difference with Ronald McDonald House Charities

As we celebrate Stampin’ Up!’s 25th anniversary this year, we are also celebrating our tenth year as official partners with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). Every month we will share a story about how our demonstrators are making a difference through this wonderful partnership.

Doretta Petlowany, a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator for 20 years, is our House Lead at the Ronald McDonald House in Sacramento, California. Last year, she was invited to attend a volunteer reception at the House and was surprised—and honored—to receive the Volunteer of the Year award on behalf of Stampin’ Up!’s team of demonstrators.

“I have been volunteering with the House since the program started and have been the lead for the past five years,” Doretta reports. “While we don't get to stamp directly with the families because most of the patients are in intensive care and critical situations, we have created a great way to touch the lives of the families and other volunteers.

“We help/supervise other volunteer groups while they make journals and cards for the families and the House staff to use. We have even had volunteer groups call and specifically ask if they can come and stamp! They are so excited about being able to create something to share. They are also amazed at the talent they didn't know they had!

“I just wanted to share this with you and the rest of the Stampin' Up! family. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to touch so many lives.”
