Power of Three

One thing I love about scrapbooking is that I can transport myself to any season or occasion. Sure, it may be summer, but I’m thinking Halloween. I’m not planning ahead. I’m looking back on last year’s fun memories. Like this one.

Dressing up for work on Halloween is a fun tradition at Stampin’ Up!, and I dressed up as my favorite superhero in 2012. Other co-workers who sit on my row also wore costumes . . . at least I think they did. I don’t usually sit across from a life-sized gorilla.

Here’s what I enjoyed most about putting this page together:

  • Using the title motif throughout the page. A page about the power of three inspired me to play up that number. You’ll see three die-cut pieces of the Labels Collection Framelits, In Color Dahlias, and clusters of Candy Dots.
  • A great reason to use stamps on scrapbook pages is the way the images can be customized. Using markers helped me create a fun mix of colors for my title. Plus I omitted “two” since “3” was a better fit for the photo.
  • Starting with one assortment of Designer Series Paper took the guesswork out of choosing a color palette. (I chose it because I liked the red and yellow.) But I also wanted a touch of blue, so I added a little Polka Dot Parade and Midnight Muse. Easy? Yes. Flexible? Definitely.

I can’t wait to pick another paper assortment and see what I can create. I just need to look through my photos and see where I want to go next . . .

Do you scrapbook? Tell me about the last page you created and how you chose a color scheme.

Great scrapbook page. I too love scrapbooking. There is not a scrapbooker out there that doesn't struggle with the pictures we are scrapping. I am years behind! I take it on page at a time.

Love this page! Love the picture, too! I just created a few pages last night - I usually use Stampin' Up DSP to determine my colors, although my pictures I was using last night had a project my daughter made, so I went with the colors in her project she made for her daddy. I loved using my new Paper Pumpkin stamps to create the page.

I usually let the colours in the picture dictate the colours I choose in my papers.
