When I first set eyes on the Around the World Stamp Set in the new catalog, I was immediately drawn to it! Not only do I live and dream to travel, but I loved that so many of the elements were composed of basic shapes (perhaps that is the math geek in me)!
Shapes are showing up everywhere, and they are beginning to flow into the paper crafting industry. Shapes like the hexagon are seen in punches and stamps, triangles and chevrons are showing up in patterned papers and ribbons, and shaped cards are so trendy right now—not to mention fun to make—and give away . . . if you must!
I love the “Away we go” sentiment in the Around the World set. With so many of my nieces and nephews graduating, going on missions for our church, or just starting out their new journey in adulthood, I thought it would be fun to change the “we” to “you” and create a fun arrow card to send them off—for whatever their next endeavor might be!
To create the card, I first made my own arrow template from a piece of 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Coaster Board. I then folded a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" piece of Pool Party Cardstock in half. Making sure that the top of my template was aligned with the top fold in my card, I traced my arrow pattern on to the card base and cut it out. Voilà! A fun shaped card! I used a few stamps from the Around the World Stamp Set, cut out my own cloud, and added some punched images made from the Chevron Border Punch to decorate the card base.
I made this card with my nephew in mind, but I will definitely be whipping up a few more for my nieces. I will simply change the Basic Gray, Gumball Green, Pool Party, and Summer Starfruit color combo for a more feminine one.
